Medicine Buddha Retreat 2017

Medicine BuddhaDuring the Corpus Christi Holiday '17: Medicine Buddha Retreat starts Thursday, June 15th at 10am, with the empowerment conferred by Lama Chimed Rigdzin; and ends Sunday, June 18th, at 11am.

The purpose of Medicine Buddha practice is to purify the three poisons of the mind to dispel illness and disease and bring benefit to those with any sickness including chronic diseases and conditions such as cancer. This practice works by allowing the innate healing powers inherent in the basic nature of all sentient beings to be uncovered and accessed. In this way people who are sick can cure themselves and others of illnesses that are not being taken care of with medicines or medical procedures. Practicing the Medicine Buddha is highly recommended to those who undergo health issues, especially chronic sicknesses; as well as to physicians, therapists, and other health care professionals, who will, by the means of the practice, boost their healing powers. (Click here for more information on this practice.)

Important Information about the Medicine Buddha Retreat:

Lama Chimed would like everyone that will attend any part of the Medicine Buddha retreat to know it is important not to eat any meat on the day of attendance. Medicine Buddha is in the action tantra class of practices and eating meat is not a part of this family of practices. So please, eat a vegetarian diet without eggs for the entire day, each day you will attend this retreat.

Costs and Accomodations

To attend the entire Medicine Buddha Retreat for all the four days and to sleep at the Gonpa for three nights we ask for a minimum offering of R$600. If you will attend the retreat and sleep elsewhere we ask for a minimum offering of R$500. Three vegetarian meals each day are included either way. There will be an additional charge of R$30 per night for the food and accommodations if you plan to arrive before the start of the retreat or stay after its closing.

Note: If you have individual dietary restrictions, please provide your own food to accommodate your needs and understand that the kitchens will be used primarily to prepare food for everyone to share.

The dormitories are separated by gender. We suggest everyone to bring their own sheets, towels and a flashlight; however, we do have a few kits with sheets and towels available for borrowing, at a R$20 laundry fee.
